When you see yourself in the world – may it be in a word, a song, an image, a story, a glance, a touch – it is rarely all of you. It’s a piece, smaller or larger.
Those pieces overlap, you can sort them, make them whole – or change them bit by bit. Changing the picture as you change going through life.
But what if you are missing a piece? A vital one? One that you never see a reflection of – one that is never seen by someone else?
You might look for it, but it’s hard to decide where to look. The world is a huge place and some places might be dangerous.
The longer you don’t find an answer, the more you feel unreal. Part of a strange pocket in the universe, reserved for you alone.
Which doesn’t show, when you look in the mirror.
